-
Emergency Response
Powered by UD Trucks, Australia’s only mobile wildlife hospital is fully equipped and staffed to provide immediate, expert care to wildlife during natural disasters and emergencies such as bushfires, floods, and mass disease outbreaks.
-
Community Education
We encourage members of the public to be wildlife aware and engaged in wildlife care through volunteering, factsheets, educational videos and information on threatened species, to community events and veterinary endorsed wildlife car rescue kits to assist wildlife in need.
-
Work Placements
Wildlife Recovery Australia’s work placement program provides practical wildlife veterinary experience to students from across Australia and overseas. In doing so, WRA is helping to create jobs for future generations of veterinarians to support immediate wildlife care.
-
Research
With over 10,000 wildlife patients treated, we are compiling exceptionally valuable data and insights on trends, causes and symptoms of wildlife injury and illness.
-
Disease Surveillance
WRA’s flagship Byron Bay WIldlife Hospital is one of 10 sentinel veterinary clinics in Wildlife Health Australia’s National Disease Surveillance program. It is part of a national network keeping an eye out for wildlife with infectious diseases like High Pathogenicity Avian Influenza (Bird Flu) that could impact wildlife, livestock, and human health.
-
Advocacy
As thought leaders in wildlife treatment and recovery, we advocate for systemic policy reform to ensure that the protection of native animals and biodiversity is a priority in state and national environment policies.
